| Race Report - British GP |
The past weekend saw EBB and the DB Racing Honda Team make a ‘wildcard’ appearance at the British round of the Motocross World Championship’s held at Materley Basin near Winchester. Having made a one off appearance previously this season in France and finishing just outside the top 10 overall, Elliott Banks Browne was hoping to show his talents and push into the top 10 in front of his home crowd. Saturday saw Elliott set decent times in the opening practice sessions and then in the qualifying race, Elliott rode superbly despite being trouble by his wrist injury which happened in a crash the previous weekend, to take a 12th place finish. Sunday wasn’t to be such a good day though, Elliott woke up with terrible pain from his wrist and after riding the morning’s warm up session the Event Doctor was called and he gave Elliott some pain killing injections to try and help him make the start of race 1. When the gate dropped for race 1 and the riders came round the opening lap, Elliott was holding 9th place, on the next lap he lost a position but he was still looking good despite suffering from the wrist injury. After 15 minutes though all this changed, Elliott was now visably struggling with his wrist but he was managing to hold onto 11th place and going through the pain barrier to keep going. It was getting tougher and tougher as the race went on though and after dropping a few positions in the final few laps, he finished the race in 15th place. During the break between the days 2 races, Elliott took the decision to pull out of the meeting and not take part in the next race he decided it would be for the best to sit out and not risk any further injury as next weekend see’s the next round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals, which he is currently leading. |
